The roots of MGoPhoto trace back almost 20 years to a blog called Maize & Blue Nation, which began formally covering Michigan football games in 2009. As the years passed, our coverage style shifted from traditional reporting and blog posts to a more visual, photographic approach.
Thus, MGoPhoto was born.
As our name suggests, we are a photo site first and foremost, fueled by creative individuals who share a strong belief in the profound storytelling ability of photojournalism. MGoPhoto is fully independent with no ties to any others sites or media outlets.
Sports is more than just scores and highlights – it is moments captured in time. Every photo tells a story. That’s what we try to capture. Everyone who contributes to this site, and did so at our previous endeavor, does so because of their love for sports, sports photography and University of Michigan athletics.

Awesome! MGoPhoto maintains a robust Flickr account where you can browse and download high-res versions of any photo we have in our galleries. We have thousands of photos going all the way back to 2010.
Because of our credential agreement, MGoPhoto can not sell or make money from the photos we take at Michigan sporting events. So, all of our photos are available for use by anyone, anywhere, as long as they credit MGoPhoto as well as the photographer. MGoPhoto images can not be modified without our consent and can not be used for commercial purposes.
